Why I built Yorùbá Learning with Ṣèfúnmí
Kọ́ Yorùbá pẹ̀lú Ṣèfúnmí — "Learn Yorùbá with Ṣèfúnmí" — is a creative learning platform designed to help children and families explore the Yorùbá language in a fun, accessible, and engaging way.
My mission is to provide easy-to-use tools for language preservation through games, music, and lessons that are culturally respectful and kid-friendly. I believe that early exposure to native languages strengthens identity and builds bridges across generations.
This project began as a final web design assignment for INFO-I 360 & AFRI-Y 202 at Indiana University — originally titled Yorùbá Learning with Ṣèfúnmí — and has grown into an interactive learning app with flashcards, matching games, quizzes, and stories.
All content is curated with attribution. Songs and videos belong to SoKidzTV on YouTube — ẹ ṣé púpọ̀ for the wonderful music! Story images were generated with Google Gemini.
